What is Vein Disease?

Vein disorders occur when the veins that carry blood from the various parts of your body back to your heart start to experience some type of complication. These problems typically become apparent as we age, and are incredibly common, but can worsen over time to the point of being a life-threatening condition if not treated properly

Vein Disease Causes and Symptoms

Vein disease is often hereditary, but that are other reasons people develop vein disease, either varicose or spider veins. Hormone fluctuation can increase your chance of developing veins, so women are more likely as well as pregnant women, to develop vein disease. People who stand all day or sit all day are also at higher risk. Learn more about your risk factors and other causes of varicose or spider veins.

Not only can vein disease be a cosmetic concern, but there can also be symptoms that affect your day to day life. Symptoms of vein disease include leg cramps, swelling, or itching. If you’re experiencing vein pain from spider or varicose veins, schedule a consultation with Dr. Handley and his team at North Texas Vein & Vascular to learn about minimally invasive treatment options.

Vein Treatment in Flower Mound

Our vision here at North Texas Vein & Vascular is to provide the highest quality patient care that we possible. I’ve got some of the best training there is for varicose vein treatments because of my background in interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology, and also being board certified in phlebology. At North Texas Vein & Vascular, we use the latest technology, and we’re a technology driven practice in that we use the most up to date techniques and concepts to treat varicose veins. Part of that is using the most minimally invasive techniques that we can. Our procedures are done under local anesthetic. They require no hospitalization. The patients walk in and they walk out of the practice. They’re able to return to their normal daily activities, typically just a few days after their varicose vein treatments. A lot of times it doesn’t even slow people down. They can come in and get their vein treated and go back to whatever they were doing that day.
